The specificity of “Exotic” segment travel is search. Guides, training, freeriding in beautiful mountains. Indian Himalayas, which guarantee 1500 meters of elevation between the beginning and the end of the downhill. Deep down, tall trees, wide gullies, Kashmiri culture, good food and much more. You can experience all this in Kashmir, India. Gulmarg has become a Mecca for freeriders from around the world. Regardless of the weather, you can always find a place to ride in powder.
If the weather is favorable, we use the upper part of the gondola, which is located near the top of Mt Apharwat (4300m asl). When the weather is bad, the top station of the queue is closed. We then use the options in the woods, between widely spaced trees or use the area of the middle station, which is almost always open. Driving down the Drang Valley (10-15 km) we will reach Tangmarg, from where we will return to Gulmarg by taxi. When the weather breaks badly, it will snow heavily, we have the opportunity to go downhill near Monkey Hill or Babarshi Trees, where we arrive by car. In the evening we discuss the plan for the next Freeride days.
The Plan
Departure from Poland to Delhi. In Delhi, we go to the transit zone, flight to Srinagar. At the airport in Srinagar there will be a local driver who will take us to Gulmarg (about 60 km), on average 2 hours. We live in a hotel in Gulmarg. In the afternoon, theoretical and practical training in the field of avalanche danger and field operations will be carried out. Participants’ equipment will be checked.
In the evening there will be a meeting with a local guide (he will accompany us during the driving days).
The next day we move up. The choice of route each day will depend on the weather, avalanche hazards, and gondola activities.
Arrival to Delhi 23:45.
In the afternoon:
Avalanche training - THEORY. Directly after the lecture, practical training, avalanche with the use of ABC - detector, probe, shovel. (simulated rescue operation).
We're moving up. Departure by gondola to the second station of the Apharwat 3979 meters above sea level.
Departure by cable at 3979 meters above sea level. Activities from the upper Apharwat station at 3979 meters above sea level.
Departure to the first Kongdoori station 3099 meters above sea level. Activities in this area.
Departure by gondola to the second station. Exit via the Drang Valley (about 10-15km), drive through the village of Drang to the town of Tangmarg. (Activities depending on the political situation - the area is sometimes closed) Return by taxi to Gulmarg.
Departure by train. Take the exit via Babarishi Trees below Gulmarg. Return to Gulmarg (2699mnpm) by taxi.
Departure by train at 3979 m above sea level. Activities from the upper Apharwat station at 3979 m above sea level.
Transfer from Gulmarg to Srinagar.
Flight to Delhi. Visiting Delhi.
OPTIONAL: Heliboarding / heliskiing (additionally paid 250 Euro person / price subject to change).
The framework plan may change depending on weather conditions, snow conditions on the slopes, avalanche danger, gondola operation, political situation in a given region.
